Mississippian
The Mississippian Period lasted from A.D.800-1600. This was one of the most complex societeies that ever existed in North America. The Mississippian people grew most of their food in small gardens. They used simple tools like axes, sticks, and fire. They grew corn, beans, squash, sunflowers, goosefoot, sumpweed, and other plants. They spent much of their time outdoors. Their houses were more of a shelter. They only used it to get shelter from bad weather, sleeping in cold months, and for storage. Some of the most impressive things the people did was art. They crafted objects from stone, shells, pottery, and copper. They created, cups, pendants, and beads made out of marine shells.
